The September event highlights at Eight2Five Innovation Hub

Eight2Five Innovation Hub powered by Old Mutual brings the September event highlights. The article unpacks all the month’s updates on activities at Eight2Five. In the September Edition, you will read about the StartUp & Entrepreneur MeetUp sessions, the in-depth branding lessons, and a lady’s empowerment boot camp among other things.

Branding 101 Series

Business success and longevity are strongly related to public perception. We teamed up with The Created Creative to deliver Branding 101 Sessions. The sessions were specifically designed for Startup business owners as we recognize that a brand’s equity is driven by its reputation. We conducted the lessons in person weekly and invited both hub members and externals to attend. Participants exited the practical session feeling confident to use the acquired skills to establish strong brand foundations. To close off the sessions, we had the honor of hosting Miss Chido Dzinotyiwei,  co-founder of Vambo Academy.

Ladies empowerment boot camp

Eight2Five Innovation Hub held a two-day Ladies Empowerment Bootcamp in collaboration with The Tanyaradzwa Initiative. At least 15 phenomenal speakers representing a variety of industries came through to unravel the program’s agenda. Young ladies from across the country came to the event to network and gain knowledge. Some of the topics discussed include value and substance, essential digital tools, effective Gender-Based Violence reporting, and personal health. The program encouraged young girls to aspire to join male-dominated disciplines of technology and engineering traditionally. The life-altering, intense, and demanding training birthed wonderful women who are eager to express their utmost level of confidence.

Startup MeetUp

With our StartUp & Entrepreneur Meet-up Program, we offer the opportunity to be taught by professionals from different industries. Startup owners get to obtain inspiration, guidance, and insight from those who have been through the experience of starting a firm. Tafadzwa Mundicha Co-Founder of Solgas Energy – Private Limited joined us for a session and shared on securing major funding. He helped startups grasp the layers of intensity and depth of work required for large projects to be completed. Tafadzwa shared his real-life experiences from his journey through the 7.5 million investment from Old Mutual. The month’s StartUp & Entrepreneur MeetUp series was capped off by a special edition with the phenomenal Chiraz. She is a serial entrepreneur, moderator, speaker, and Algeria Laureate for the Women in Africa WIA54 2021 program. Chiraz who is also the founder of Coach Tribe, Pitch World Fast, came through and delivered a powerful session to usher us into the new month.

YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship information session

Eight2Five Innovation Hub is a community of young leaders and change-makers making a difference through innovation and collaboration.  We encourage fearless trailblazing and continued reinvention by providing opportunities for young people to make a difference. We had the honor of receiving a delegation from the US Embassy in Zimbabwe for an information session. They took us through the advantages and application procedure of the YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. The Fellowship offers exceptional opportunities for Fellows and Americans to work together as they promote growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and increase peace and security throughout Africa.

Financial literacy training

Finance is a critical component of a successful startup. Many entrepreneurs, however, lack financial knowledge and we make it a point to bridge that gap for them. In September, we hosted a financial training session based on the Old Mutual on the Money program with Ahoyi Africa. Entrepreneurs and startup owners came through to learn financial secret lessons from the behaviors of the big five animals.  The program uses the natural traits of the big five to teach personal financial management. The classes equip people with healthy financial habits including investment, budgeting, and more.
